There is something magical about Broadway in New York City. I am not your typical musical fan, but since I have been to broadway shows in Manhattan, I am totally addicted. My favorite broadway musical: Chicago. The cozy Ambassador Theatre with its burgundy seats has this special atmosphere, I have only experienced on Broadway.
Chicago shows the dark side: violence, murder, corruption, adultery… – you name it. The music and dancing is astonishing. I had to download the songs right away and still love listening to “All that Jazz”. In my opinion, Chicago just has everything that’s special about a broadway show. You should not miss it, when you are in the city.
Totally different, but just as cool: Blue Man Group. At first, especially if you are a fan of musicals like Chicago, you might not be attracted to the show. However, the indescribable show was so much fun and I had the same feeling as when attending a very cool party. Blue Man Group is much more than splattering of paint and making music with unusual instruments. It’s rock, it’s fun and very entertaining.
To conclude, I want to introduce you to a classic: Mary Poppins. P.L. Travers’ story is well-known all around the world and you might know the woman, who can fly by using an umbrella from the Disney movie. This musical is fun for the whole family and what more can I say than, it’s simply: Supercalifragilisticexpialidocious!
I always go to Times Square to get cheap tickets. Don’t ignore the promoters and their coupons on Times Square – I have bought very cheap tickets with excellent seats. I would not rely on the concierge of your hotel. He can get you tickets, but they won’t be cheap (so this is only my fall-back solution).
